Future film dates

Tomorrow we will be filming at the Mill Hill Playhouse from 10:30 am till around 2pm. We are doing a segment on the Trenton Theater scene for an upcoming episode of The Urban Evolution due out this fall. June Ballinger, is opening up the doors for us to profile the thriving and often under appreciated theatrical scene here in Trenton, NJ. But after we're done with them, it will no longer be under appreciated. I think it will make people in the Trenton area see Passage Theater for what it is, a vibrant and very important part of Trenton, NJ and beyond. Just ask any aspiring actors, writers, directors, producers and anyone who is trying to be a part of the entire theater industry. They'll tell ya.

Also this sunday at noon, The Urban Evolution will be filming our host Darren Pomerantz as he does his stand in and voice over roles for the segment we are finishing about the homeless situation here in the Trenton area. We will be focusing on the United Way and Homefront and their individual efforts to eradicate the homeless situation we are all dealing with here in the capitol city.

It's a wrap..

Yesterday we finished shooting the Mrs G Profile segment for the show. It is going to be great. We got a lot of fantastic crane and Dolly shots of the entire facility. The piece will be ready and highlighted at our screening party on October 3, 2009 at Mrs G TV and Appliance. Debbie Schaeffer who is The President of Mrs G is throwing us the event to promote the show and to help us obtain a few sponsors for season 2 of The Urban Evolution. Thanks a lot Debbie.

"The newest addition to our growing family"

We'd like to Welcome Broad Street Bank Apartments as our newest sponsor. Hot on the heels of Mrs. G which recently joined us, Broad Street Apartments has joined a respected group of local businesses which know the importance of dedication and loyalty. These businesses are helping our community grow stronger by investing time and resources to rebuild and show that this city and the surrounding area can once again be what it was in all it's grandeur. Trenton can and will once again be, a shining example of what our area has to offer with the help of businesses like this.

Filming date

Tomorrow 8/05/09 we will be filming one of our hosts Darren Pomerantz in Trenton doing his stand in spot for an upcoming segment on a program called OURSEP here in the city of Trenton. Their goal is to enrich children by teaching them science. The program is headed up by Ketura and it is a very important program for kids. They just returned from their week long trip to Costa Rica and they let us know all about it. This piece will be featured on a future episode of The Urban Evolution in the fall of 2009.

Thanks

Thanks Marc and Andrew for the feedback, we really appreciate it.

Today I am bringing over the contracts to be signed by our newest sponsor, The Broad Street Bank on Montgomery and State street in Downtown Trenton. I took a tour of their facility the other day and it was spectacular. At 11 am I have to go to the Boys and Girls club on Center street in Trenton to speak to kids about acting and entertainment as a career. It should be fun...

New space

No just the office space up top, in the loft which fits 3 desks. Why don't you stop by and take a tour when you have time. This is a space that I like because as Maria said last night, it is a cooperative space for artists and new businesses to start their businesses with low rent and a friendly environment. We need more cooperative spaces in the city to help new business owners get up and running without having to worry about a large rent payment every month. That's what I personally think I am Trenton should do with grant money they receive. Instead of giving out micro loans to a few individuals, they should use the money pool they receive to purchase a property to use as an incubator or Hub to help new businesses start, develop and grow and even have an aftercare program for the businesses that went through the incubator and moved on to their own bigger facility. So the property becomes self sustaining, income producing while at the same time helping to create more jobs for the participants and their employees, a new tax base for these new tax paying companies in the city and I am Trenton is now growing, while helping the community, so in the future any grant money they do receive is more like icing on the cake instead of their only means of survival, because their investments in the city are making I am Trenton self sustaining, income producing entities capable of growing on their own without having to participate in all of the governmental beaurocracy. I actually think this is the only way I am Trenton will make a profound and lasting imprint in this or any city. Be different then every other non profit that steps up with their grand idea's of how they are going to change the city. They always get bogged down in the sludge of government inefficiencies. In my opinion you should not look to exist by waiting or asking for the non profit welfare line from any administration whether local, county, state or federal. Getting a grant is a good and even maybe a necessary thing for the organization but, being self sufficient is the goal for any organization. We have all seen so many non profit's fold or become unproductive because they wait for the grant money to come. We do not want to be at the mercy of the government in anyway because if I Am Trenton becomes a government dependent, it will become ineffective as far as making a difference in the community, a real difference that is. Other organizations and government departments look sensational on paper, as far as all of their accomplishments and programs are concerned but in reality, the impact they have is nil. The most important part of the name I Am Trenton is the I which to me stands for ME, which means I must rely on I or ME to make the change, I must rely on I or ME to clean up my own backyard before I or ME can change anybody else. I must rely on I or ME to rely on I or ME to sustain whatever programs I or ME develop to help my community grow and prosper. There is no WE if the I or ME does not exist. Self sufficiency is the key so I gotta start with the I or ME.

Filming

The Urban Evolution crew was out filming all day yesterday at "Mrs.G" Appliance. We were putting together their much anticipated Segment for an upcoming episode of The Urban Evolution this fall. It was a great shoot and will be a great piece, when finished. We also had an unexpected guest pop up to take pictures of us hard at work. It was a photographer from the Downtowner news publication for their upcoming story on The Urban Evolution movement. Things are really going great right now with the show and the support we are getting is fantastic and growing. We want to thank Mrs G and all of our show supporters for their help and participation in our collective efforts to make Trenton, NJ a better place to live and to show the true beauty this city (my home) has to offer the world.

Our New Home!

Here's pics of our New home which we move into August 1st. Gonna be painting next weekend..... Lots O' Fun!! LOL

July 10th Trenton 2 Night

This was the biggest event The Urban Evolution has had up to this point in our movement. A lot of people came out to our screening party to show their support and it was much appreciated. We had a great time and the feedback has been tremendous. Our next event will be August 22nd, 7pm at Artworks in Downtown Trenton, NJ. We'll be having another screening of the show to let people know what we're doing as well as raise funds to help produce future episodes. Go to the photo's page on the website to see some of the people that were there.
